Good golfing up there, Jim! Dave Jepson
He was a Great Old Guy. Kevin Joyce
I met Jim at Rio La Paz several years ago
when I was just beginning to play golf. I became one of Jim Burns' playing partners soon after we met. During that time,
I was privileged to play with this fine gentleman who enjoyed life to the fullest, was always a positive, caring,
thoughtful, humorous man and loved to play golf almost every day. I was fortunate enough to play Spyglass and Poppy Hills with
Jim in 2003. We had a great time on the trip, and I have fond memories of Jim and his excitement about playing in the tournament in Monterey.
Jim enriched the lives of those who knew him and he will be missed so very much. I know I have been enriched and I will miss him.
God love you, Jim, and enjoy your golf in Heaven.
My deepest sympathies to Cheryl. David Kirstien

Jim will certainly be missed.
We always enjoyed laughing and commiserating with him about our respective rounds of golf at the annual Mesquite and Reno Amateur tournaments.
With the kind, down-to-earth way that he had about him, he had the ability to make everyone feel at ease. We feel fortunate that we were able to
get to know Jim and spend the time that we did with him. Jimmy kept us entertained and fascinated by his stories relating to his personal experiences over the years.
Again, he will be greatly missed. Nancy Rosa and Bob Morley
Jimmy loved his wine, gambling and golf. We loved that Jimmy loved these things too as it gave us an opportunity to get to know Jimmy and spend time with him
doing the things he loved to do. Jimmy was responsible for our participation at the annual Mesquite Amateur Challenge Golf Tournament - as well as the Reno/Tahoe Nugget Challenge,
both of which we attended for the last three-four years. Jimmy and his dear friend Bob Cook came up to Sedona for my 50th birthday celebration in 2004 to play golf and
go out to lunch. Jimmy was such a character and a joy to play with. We last saw Jimmy two days before his passing. He was 5th in his flight at the Mesquite tournament and
was excited about the possibility of playing in the championship round on Friday. As luck would have it, someone from the top 4 places was not able to play and
Jim went onto the final round. Although we did not see him on Friday, we can only imagine how his mind was churning Thursday evening and Friday morning, trying to
figure out what he had to shoot to win the title of Champion - and what he would do with the Grand Prize Golf Bag that was autographed by the 640 contestants if he did!
He probably could have used it to store all his extra golf clubs. Our time with Jimmy was short over these last six years but we feel as if we have known him a lifetime.
He was so easy to get to know and love.
We will miss him! Mary and Hal Daby |
